Seven questions with IT Tech, Jordan Albaladejo

To be a leading Australian-based IT Managed Services Provider and cyber security specialist takes the right kind of people.

Meet C5IT’s Jordan Albaladejo – an IT Technician who isn’t just committed to keeping your systems operational and secure, but whose love for a challenge keeps his innovative mind switched on!

Q1: What is your role within C5IT?

As one of C5IT’s IT Technician’s, I’m responsible for the day-to-day management of clients and systems, with client relationships core to all I do. I also work on a technical level with our business contacts such as suppliers and providers. I love the variety this role brings, and the opportunity it presents to form genuine connections.

Q2: What is your background? What did you do prior to joining C5IT?

From the age of 14, I have been involved in computer systems and IT in some manner. I built my first computer around this age, with Ubuntu Linux as the operating system, as the computer was underpowered. Finding solutions to complex deterministic questions is what enthralled me; understanding how something works and creating something out of nothing, this was one of the reasons that motivated me to seek a career in this sector.

Since then, I have gained extensive experience working as an IT Technician, Systems Administrator, and business owner, covering a wide range of disciplines across the IT stack.

One of my proudest achievements was founding and running my own Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) on the far south coast of NSW. Over three years, I transformed a small computer repair shop into a thriving MSSP catering to small and medium-sized businesses. Eventually, I transitioned my clients to another Managed Service Provider (MSP) to join a larger, more resourceful team that shared my passion, values, and mission. This decision was driven by a desire to achieve greater outcomes through collaboration.

While IT has been a significant part of my professional life, I also have a strong background in church ministry, having earned an Associate Degree in Ministry. This experience has instilled in me a deep care for people – an often-overlooked quality in the IT industry.

I believe that a personable approach to technical matters is essential. Technology is often an extension of people's lives, passions, and identities, especially for business owners who pour their hearts into their work. My unique combination of technical expertise and people-first values allows me to bridge the gap between technology and the human experience, fostering trust and delivering meaningful solutions.

Q3. What drew you to C5IT?

Before joining C5IT, I had two strong offers on the table. What ultimately drew me to Mathew and his business was the remarkable alignment between C5IT’s vision and the one I had for the MSSP business I had previously built. My business carried the tagline, "We ingest; enabling your best." A philosophy that I see deeply ingrained in C5IT’s ethos.

Like me, Mathew started from the ground up, building his business with security as a foundational principle. This shared vision and entrepreneurial journey excited me, making the decision to take the leap and sign on an easy one—and it’s already proving to be the right choice!

Q4. What do you hope to achieve at C5IT?

In terms of client achievement, I want to ensure all our clients feel heard and supported. I want them to feel I’m a part of their business – not just a plug-in IT support person. This really makes a difference to the way services are delivered and received.

In terms of my own professional development and my ambitions here, I would like to grow my experience across more domains. I would like to achieve mastery in security – to know it inside out, and to take on and conquer all the puzzles it poses. I genuinely enjoy the challenge and the feeling of discovering something new and valuable for our clients.

At my heart, I’m an IT enthusiast people person; one who is motivated by the opportunity to assist individuals in better using their technology.

Q5. What do you think will be the best thing about working at C5IT?

What makes a workplace work for me are the people with whom I work – internally and externally. It’s how you are viewed in your job – either as a mundane, robotic IT Technician, or as someone who strives to deliver positive change in innovative ways. I love figuring out new and interesting solutions, and the team at C5IT strongly encourage this. They genuinely want me to thrive. It’s for my own personal good, the good of the business, and of course, the good of our clients. Having a professional yet personable approach to your staff as well as your clients is the foundation for success.

Q6. Tell us something interesting about yourself (professional context).

There is a free online cyber security platform called TryHackMe. It has around 3-4 million users, all of whom are determined to learn cyber security using hands-on exercises and labs.

To aid in my own professional development, and for fun (!), I signed up to learn. Within one month, I reached the top 1% on the leaderboard at the time, which has since scaled to top 3%. I believe that this is a good example of the passion and true enjoyment I get from IT and security, and fundamentally… solving puzzles.

Q7. Tell us something interesting about yourself (personal context).

During the Covid-19 pandemic, I taught myself a few classical guitar pieces. I also love graphic design, in particular, cartoon drawing, having tried my hand at selling designs for a short period online. Both hobbies offer me a different type of challenge to IT and cyber security, but I find them all equally enjoyable!
